These are cementing plugs used in oilfield cementing operations. The red one is the bottom plug, and the black one is the top plug. They are core tools for isolating drilling fluid from cement slurry and cleaning the casing inner wall during cementing jobs.
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Product Name | Cementing Plug (including Top Plug / Bottom Plug) |
| Functions | 1. Isolate drilling fluid from cement slurry to prevent contamination of the cement slurry
|
| Structural Features | 1. Multi-lip rubber design for multi-stage sealing against the casing inner wall
|
| Material Composition | - Outer Layer: Oil/high-temperature-resistant rubber (e.g., NBR, FKM)
|
| Applicable Standards | API Spec 10A / GB/T 43599-2023 |
| Parameter | Typical Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Applicable Casing Size | 2-3/8" ~ 20" | Customizable to customer casing sizes (e.g., 5", 7", 9-5/8", 13-3/8") |
| Temperature Rating | 120°C ~ 200°C | ≥150°C for standard service; higher ratings available for high-temperature wells |
| Pressure Rating | 20MPa ~ 35MPa | ≥20MPa for standard cementing plugs; up to 35MPa+ for high-pressure wells |
| Rubber Material | NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) / FKM (Fluoroelastomer) | NBR for oil and wear resistance; FKM for high-temperature and corrosive fluid applications |
| Core Material | Phenolic Resin / Aluminum Alloy | Phenolic resin is easily drillable; aluminum alloy offers higher strength |
| Working Differential Pressure | ≥10MPa | Ensures no leakage during displacement |
| Applicable Well Types | Vertical, Deviated, Horizontal | Anti-rotation plugs available for rotating liner cementing |
Color Coding: Industry standard uses red for bottom plugs and black/blue for top plugs for quick field identification. 2. Working Sequence: The bottom plug is first released to isolate drilling fluid from cement slurry. Cement slurry is pumped, followed by the top plug to push the slurry. The two plugs "bump" at the casing shoe to complete displacement. 3. Drillability: The plug core is made of easily drillable material, which can be milled out after cementing without affecting subsequent operations.
